The Postal Department is launching an instant money remittance scheme, , in tie-up with the BSNL infrastructure by next month, Chief Postmaster General (Kerala Circle).

Postal Remittance Scheme:

As per the scheme a person can send money through the which will send a message to the other about the amount to be given to the other person, she said. The department is also planning to implement a range of products including e-post facility instead of letter, electronic money order scheme by which up to Rs. 5000 could be sent with a small message, ‘M O Videsh’ and pick-up service.

States to get Postal Remittance Scheme:

In the first phase the scheme will be implemented in selected states like Kerala, Bihar, New Delhi and Punjab.

In Kerala the scheme will be implemented in selected 30 post offices in Idukki, Aluva and Pathanamthitta. Koshy said the process of computerizing the entire postal network in the country, numbering 1.55 lakh post offices, was going on. Finally Post offices have waken up from a long sleep and have started their way forward towards making progress. Lot of doubts are still in people’s mind about the charges post office will levy from people to use this service, the security quotient the remittance service will have. Even the limit of Rs. 5000 seems unjustifiable. With one of the worst services in Telecom, is it worth to partner with BSNL for mobile service? But none the less, it is start to a new beginning for one of the largest and lagging organization of India – Indian Postal Service and I do hope it brings the revamp which post offices need from so long.

What do you feel about this service? Let me know your views in the form of comments. I would love to hear them.
